WELL, I enjoyed a few of the RWC pool matches, but the mis-matches have been eye-wateringly embarrassing. Only nine teams of the 20 taking part should be in France. The rest, brave souls that they are, are mere cannon fodder.
International sport is supposed to be highly competitive and professional. Looking at some of the scores registered in this World Cup makes me think that our sport is amateur in both outlook and in practice.
The ‘rugby elite’ should either start funding and playing the ‘second tier’ nations or wash its hands of them completely.
