WORLD Rugby should consider the criterion regarding separating teams which finish World Cup group games on equal points. Currently, if three teams are level on points at the end of their group, the team finishing first will be the team with the best points difference – if the three teams cannot be decided on head to head.
Rather than head to head, the criterion to separate teams on equal points should be in the following order: points difference; points scored; tries scored, fewest red cards, fewest yellow cards.
