Johnny Sexton will not be the oldest player on starting grid when the chequered flag goes up on the World Cup in 26 days’ time. That distinction will go to someone a little further into his 39th year, Agustin Creevy.
One of many London Irish players scattered far and wide by the club’s shocking demise, Creevy has been around for almost a full four months longer than Sexton. The Pumas’ hooker is marginally older than the oldest duo at the last World Cup, his Springbok counterpart Schalk Brits and Japan lock Luke Thompson.
