Rugby School won a first title at Rosslyn Park for 76 years as they beat King’s School Macclesfield 36-12 in the final of the U18 Boys Vase.
Having been beaten in last year’s plate final, and the vase final in the previous tournament held, it seemed third time lucky for the famous old school and birthplace of the game.
But luck can always be dismissed as a variable that decides whether a team can win the Vase, by virtue of the sheer number of teams in the competition, which this year had 250 participants.
