Hosts Newport (Salop) held their nerve to consign basement side Stourbridge to yet another defeat.
Jake Leonard opened the scoring for Newport after only four minutes, but Stourbridge levelled within three minutes, Matthew Moseley taking the honours.
The scrums were fairly even, but the teams exchanged penalties after handling errors. A Stourbridge catch-and-drive ended in a try by Chad Thorne, successfully converted by Aley.
