THE desire of Championship clubs for a reinstatement of their £288k annual central funding, as reported in last week’s TRP, is understandable from their narrow point of view, but is surely hard to justify in the context of sub-Premiership rugby as a whole.
National League clubs are not even receiving the traditional RFU contributions towards their very significant travelling costs, having to fund these and payments to part time players out of their own resources.
