WASPS shone on the pitch during a difficult week off it, as they were the pick of the sides in this week’s opening round of Premiership Rugby Cup matches.
The winners of inaugural competition in 2005/06 raced into a 21-0 lead against Newcastle on the half hour and eventually sealed a 35-14 victory.
Kieran Curran and Greg Fisilau went over from close range before Premiership veteran Michael van Vuuren finished from the back of the maul.
