Phil Dowson praised Alex Mitchell for the way his moments of magic with hands and feet sparked life into Saints and set them on the road to a first Premiership victory of the new campaign.
The Northampton boss enthused: “Alex is a class act and such a dangerous player. Also his quality of kicking and his back field coverage was very good. We certainly needed that piece of skill from him to set up the first try.
“It was a strange game in many ways. We tried to force things when they were down to 12 men but then broke through when they had 15! It was fits and starts but we struck to our guns....
