The Premiership season kicks off in three weeks with growing fears that almost a quarter of the clubs in the league will be in financial meltdown.
Matters came to a head last week when HMRC hit Worcester Warriors with a winding up petition over an unpaid tax bill which The Rugby Paper understands is around £6 million.
The Warriors, who were late paying players’ wages in May, are the only Premiership club not to have filed a set of accounts with Companies House for the last financial year.
