Trial GGA rules… punish the player not the whole team

THERE is no doubt that red cards are spoiling the competitiveness of games but at the same time it is right that offending players should be dismissed from a game and appropriately sanctioned.
The proposal to adopt a 20 minute red card is just a fudge.
As an alternative, may I suggest trying the adoption for a trial period of the system used in Gaelic football and hurling where a black card (the colour doesn’t matter) which means the offending player must take no further part in the game but his side can replace him from the bench.
