NEWPORT kicked off their Premiership title bid with a winning start after a strong second-half display.
The Black and Ambers topped the eastern conference of the WRU Premiership Cup after winning eight of their ten fixtures.
And they have carried that form into the league proper.
Bridgend grabbed the first points of the afternoon when Matthew Jones slotted over a penalty.
