Newport edge top-of-the-table tussle

NEWPORT (SALOP) first-team manager Michael Woodhouse praised his side’s spirit as they maintained their perfect league start to the Midlands Premier with a 32-27 win over Sandbach.
With both teams heading the table at the beginning of play, there was little between them on the pitch level at 13-13 at half-time. Despite going down to 14 men, Newport scored late to seal the points and to go clear at the top. George Castledine, Sam Brown, Tom Cowell and Alex Gow all ran over Newport tries, while Connor Adams kicked three conversions and two penalties.
