Jackman: WRU has to save the regions

BERNARD Jackman has urged the Welsh Rugby Union to follow their Irish counterpart’s lead by pumping more money into the four regions or risk seeing them slip further into the abyss.
Three of the four professional sides in Wales are privately owned, but Cardiff Blues, Dragons, Ospreys and Scarlets have been forced to take out a £20million loan from NatWest to survive the pandemic.
The budgets divvied out by Irish Rugby far exceed the money doing the rounds in Wales, but former Dragons boss Jackman, below, insists the gap has to be closed somehow.
