Blame Ritchie for PGA

THE article by Nick Cain last week exposing the financial issues facing the RFU is aiming at the wrong target.
At the time of the new Professional Game Agreement, the then chairman Bill Beaumont told the RFU council to leave the negotiations in the hands of the CEO Ian Ritchie and not interfere.
Rather like when the game went professional and negotiations between the RFU and clubs were carried out and agreed before being shown to the RFU council, leaving it too late for any discerning voices to be raised.
Unfortunately, in both cases the RFU negotiator had a foot in both camps with the firs...
