Sale fiasco shows PRL not fit for purpose

IF there were questions about PRL being fit for purpose before Sale’s Covid outbreak, its fog of indecision over what to do about the Premiership play-offs when the club announced they had 19 positive cases -which later increased to 27 - gave us confirmation it is not.
The PRL rules introduced before the league’s resumption in August stipulated that teams unable to play matches “due to illness following Covid-19 will be forced to forfeit their fixture”, with their opponents given a 20-0 bonus-point victory.
