Danny Cipriani has ended speculation over his future by signing a new three-year deal to stay at Gloucester.
The fly-half has secured an improved contract to stay at Kingsholm until 2022, spurning interest from at least three Premiership rivals and two lucrative offers to move to the Top 14.
Cipriani will have turned 34 by the time the new contract ends, effectively deciding to finish his career with the Cherry and Whites.
Leaving Wasps at the end of last season after his boyhood club announced the signing of Lima Sopoaga, Cipriani made a run at a return to the international stage with England by signing a cut-price deal with Gloucester.
The form which saw Wasps reach the Premiership play-off semi-finals persuaded England head coach Eddie Jones to forgo previous reservations over Cipriani and select him for the June tour of South Africa.
A replacement for the second Test against the Springboks, Jones handed him a first start for England in over three years for the Newlands Test.
Cipriani has yet to return to the England fold since the 25-10 victory in Cape Town, with his influence in Gloucester’s current Premiership play-off push leading some to call for his inclusion.
Johan Ackermann’s side sit third in the Premiership standings, nine points clear of Northampton Saints in fifth and on target for a first semi-final since 2011.
