INTERNATIONAL rugby wasn’t totally wiped out over the weekend with Junior Japan claiming their first-ever World Rugby Pacific Challenge title with a 21-12 win over reigning champions and tournament hosts Fiji Warriors.
An electrical storm threatened to add the concluding match of the Suva-based tournament to the list of worldwide postponements, but after a short delay the game took place and the few hundred spectators inside the ANZ Stadium in Suva witnessed history.
