ENGLAND came away from the inaugural LA Sevens with just one win from their five matches, missing out on a shot at a medal match to finish eighth overall.
South Africa took the title with a dramtic win over Fiji in the final.
After bouncing back from a shock opening 22-5 defeat to Spain with a win over Wales, England were narrowly beaten by New Zealand in the pool but were granted a quarter-final berth by virtue of a better points difference to Spain.
