ENGLANDU20s forwards guru Alex Codling has challenged his Red Rose stars of the future to throw off the shackles of prescriptive coaching and become leaders in their own right.
With the cult of the ‘super coach’ becoming as embedded in modern day rugby as it has in football, Codling believes players are now less inclined to take control of their own destiny on the field, relying instead on processdriven coaching that provides little scope for deviation.
