Keep the coaches off the pitch

THE dead rubber between Bath and Harlequins at the Rec was not just notable for another lamentable European Cup campaign by the home side.
The other blot on the quagmire of a pitch was a series of scrums being used by both sides as an excuse for NFL style timeouts.
The standard delaying tactic, so front five forwards can have a breather, is for one of them to feign an injury. While the ‘injured player’ takes a knee a swarm of medics and physios – and coaches – run onto the pitch.
