THE great and the good have paid due tribute to Bob Willis, the England fast bowler who terrorised the Australians at Headingley in 1981 before graduating from the Roy Keane school of punditry. His involvement with the England rugby team did not merit the vaguest mention.
For some, most notably Will Carling, it was just as well. It would have reminded England’s triple Grand Slam captain of the ‘PR disaster’ of Cardiff, 1991.
