Tyler Williams and Ben Mayers-Davies crashed over in the first 40 minutes and Owen Howe added a crucial seven points from the boot to leave Merthyr with a mountain to climb. They fought back with scores from full-back Matthew Jarvis and wing Ashley Norton, but the comeback fell short.
