THE boot of Dan Barnes decided proceedings, with the London Scottish flyhalf making amends for an earlier penalty miss to kick the winning points.
A miss with 12 minutes remaining gave the Pirates hope, keeping them level at 21-21, but that hope was snuffed out in the dying seconds.
Scottish head coach Graham Steadman was impressed with his side’s efforts, notably in a first period in which the visitors enjoyed more of the possession and territory.
In that first 40, Pirates’ endeavour suggested a long afternoon for the hosts.
