FORMER Red Roses scrum-half La Toya Mason created history on Friday evening when she ran touch as an assistant referee at the Premiership 7s in Northampton.
Auckland-born Mason, 35, right, was a replacement when England won the World Cup in France five years ago and went on to win 70 caps.
She is following hot on the heels of Sara Cox who last season became the first woman to referee a Premiership clash when she took charge of Northampton Saints against Wasps.
While Clare Daniels and Claire Hodnett have also been appointed to officiate at Premiership games.
