HOW depressing, after the fresh air offered last week by Steve Hill’s views on the need for the RFU to re-prioritise community rugby support, to read Jon Newcombe (in his piece about Jersey) and Nick Cain both implicitly supporting the case for increased investment in the Championship. Any such support from the centre could come only at the expense of grassroots rugby.
The RFU cannot even afford their current contractual obligations without beggaring the community game.
