Depending on your point of view, the clubs and the RFU have worked together really well in recent years to manage the club v country debate, or it’s a total shambles that’s holding back England’s prospects.
The issue came to the fore again this week when Eddie Jones proffered his explanation for why England have been serial underachievers.
It’s the usual old stuff: the clubs are autonomous and control the players, while the RFU have the money but not as much influence as other Unions.
