PRO14 organisers are negotiating a £120m deal with the potential to change the face of the British and Irish game below Test level.
The private equity firm CVC Capital Partners have followed up their purchase of a 27 per cent stake in the Gallagher Premiership for £220m with a bid for a similar piece of the PRO14. It will pave the way for showpiece deciders between the champions of both Leagues and raise the possibility of a British-Irish League.
