Aching bones forces ageless Purdy to call time

ESSEX rugby legend Micky Purdy will scrum down no more after playing his last league game for Basildon RFC at the grand old age of 70.
Former boxer Purdy started playing for Basildon in 1968. The pugilistic pensioner’s love of rugby meant he kept going strong in the No.8 jersey despite two years ago being diagnosed with a lung condition, pulmonary hypertension.
