CORNISH Pirates coach Gavin Cattle has called for a FA Cup style knock-out tournament to replace the British & Irish Cup next season.
Currently there’s no confirmation from the RFU over what is to replace the B&I Cup for next season with a tournament featuring just Championship sides mooted, while others such as Richmond coach Steve Hill have called for the league to be expanded to 14 teams.
Cattle’s proposal would be along the lines of the B&I Cup’s predecessor, the then-called EDF National Trophy, which featured 118 clubs and ran between 2002 to 2009. Cattle ...
