IN the battle of the top two, Barnes took the scalp of the league leaders, beating Guernsey 22-28 at Footes Lane.
Anthony Armstrong and Doug Horrocks were the try scorers for the home side. There was also a penalty try, with Owen Thomas slotting a conversion and a penalty.
Following a penalty try, Jack Garrett bagged two for Barnes, with Matthew Cornish in for one. Charlie Wickes added three conversions. The results now put Barnes within two points of the Channel Islanders.
