IONIANS produced an immense rearguard action to hold out and gain a vital five-point win.
They put aside defensive duties for a ten-minute spell either side of the break to run in three tries, to add to an earlier effort from Oliver Fox. It built an unassailable lead that Caldy were unable to overhaul despite rallying with a try by Gavin Roberts.
