■ GLOUCESTER head coach Johan Ackermann has seen off the challenge of Wasps to lure Springbok flanker Jaco Kriel to Kingsholm.
Ackermann has had his eye on Kriel since moving to Kingsholm in the summer. Kriel was Ackermann’s captain at the Lions in their run to last season’s final.
Kriel, who is out of contract at the end of the 2018 Super Rugby season, has signed to play for Japanese side Kubota Spears in the 2017/18 Top League.
