Jaco helps new refs

PROTOCOL on this Lions tour says the referees are not allowed to speak to the media. So we haven’t been able to ask Jaco Peyper, the South African who took charge of the opening Test, about his mentoring of 13- year-old Dallas McKnight.
But Dallas has spoken freely about her gratitude. She is just one of four females among the 126 referees currently officiating in the Wellington area, and Peyper has encouraged her since she acted as a watergirl for him when he took charge of the New Zealand v Wales international in the city last year.
