NOBODY is keener than me to see rugby gain an even firmer foothold in Spain and I don’t doubt that next season’s European finals in the beautiful San Mames Stadium Bilbao will be a major triumph.
It’s premature though and a tad unfair. Italian clubs have been involved in Europe for over 20 years, mainly taking regularly beatings, and have a much stronger prior claim to staging a big final. They have long deserved and needed the massive boost that staging a gala finals weekend provides. They are either part of EPC Rugby or not.
