I READwith dismay that the RFU are seriously considering cutting the England Counties side and the County Championship deeming them ‘an unnecessary financial burden’.
Only the previous week we read that the RFU have overtaken the FA as the wealthiest national sports administrator with a turnover of £407.1m.
So how can the issue be financial when, for example, the budget for the England Counties side is £110k providing only for expenses and kit, the coaches and players are unpaid?
