SCUNTHORPE squandered the chance to eke out a draw in a game dominated by atrocious conditions.
A Steve Johnson penalty got Scunthorpe got off to a bright start after Harrogate were guilty of hands in the ruck.
The north Yorkshire side hit back on 23 minutes when second row Jake Brady crashed over, but Dave Doherty missing the conversion.
But the home side got their noses back in front when the influential James Dyson scored from a rolling maul.
