1. Mako Vunipola – He is my old housemate and one of the best ball carrying props around. It was great to have played with him through the years.
2. Jamie George – I have known Jamie since he was 12. In my first game against him he was playing No.10! That says a lot about his ball playing abilities. A great asset and leader to any team.
3. Alex Lunberg – Watched him play as a schoolkid and then for him to play such a big part in Bedford’s journey last season was pretty impressive. Should have a future in the England set-up.
4. Paul Tupai – Someone who has played professional rugby for 23 years should be in any team! He never goes unnoticed on the field and he is a great leader through his actions.
5. George Kruis – I’ve known George since he was 16 when he turned up at the academy weighing about 14 stone. His progression has been insane and well-deserved. He is now a key component in the England squad.
6. Don Barrell – Not played for a couple of years now, however, on his day at Saracens and Bedford he was a real asset on the pitch.
7. Nick Fenton Wells – Former Blues captain now with Bristol. A well-deserved opportunity in the Premiership and I am sure he will thrive.
8. Jackson Wray – I’ve grown up with Jackson. We played through college and age groups together and now he is a regular in the Premiership with the double champions. Not bad.
9. Luke Baldwin – I have never seen anyone to match his energy and enthusiasm. A great person to be around the team.
10. Josh Sharp – My little brotherhas played for England Students over the last two years. Definitely someone to watch out for in National One with Loughborough this year.
11. Marcus Watson – Another old housemate. Current Olympic silver medallist with the Sevens team and has one of the best steps going.
12. Owen Farrell – I played with ‘Faz’ throughout our childhood and his record says it all. Consummate professional and always performs under pressure.
13. Michael le Bourgeois – The current captain of Bedford. The most relaxed man off the field, but the most competitive on it.
14. Christian Wade – Hard to keep up with at the best off times, I’ve been trying all the way through the age groups. People still can’t keep up with him now on the biggest stage.
15. Alex Goode – He was the stand out player in the Premiership last season, and I’m sure he will continue his form throughout this one. A brilliant help with the academy lads as well.
