London Scottish have today added depth to their front row by completing the signings of hooker Devlin Hope, and loosehead Jonny Harris.
Harris arrives at the Athletic Ground after three years with London Irish and also a loan spell with Bedford Blues.
The 25-year-old prop from Norfolk joined Irish from Leicester in July 2013. Harris picked up an Aviva Premiership ‘A’ League winner’s medal with Tigers in 2010/11, and has also been capped by England at U19 level.
He said: “After speaking to Pete I’m sure that Scottish are on the up and I can’t wait to get my boots on and try as hard as I can for the club.”
South African Hope, who joins from Coventry, has also represented Western Province’s provincial side Valke in the Currie Cup.
The 26-year-old commented: “I’ve got a couple of days of training under my belt now and there’s a great bunch of guys here so I’m excited to join Scottish and for the season ahead.”
London Scottish head coach Peter Richards said: “Devlin is a great prospect and is a ball-playing hooker. He has plenty of attacking flair and plays in a similar style to Schalk Brits, giving us a different front row option. I’m sure his time in the Currie Cup and with Coventry has prepared him for Championship rugby.
“Jonny has proven Premiership quality and we are excited to have him. It’s another opportunity for him to establish himself at loosehead with Grant Shiells as well, so we have some great options across the front-row.”
