London Scottish have confirmed today that Peter Lydon has signed a new contract with the club.
The Irish full-back joined the Exiles from Stade Francais two years ago and has since scored 457 points in 54 appearances.
One of the finest goal-kicker in the Championship, his kicking exploits have secured four last-gasp wins this seasonA last minute penalty at Headingley gave Scottish a 30-27 victory against Yorkshire Carnegie, which was followed a week later by a drop goal in the 79th minute at home to London Welsh, securing an 11-10 win.
Lightning struck twice later in the season, with an 80th minute touchline conversion completing the double against Carnegie, and another one the week after gave the Scots a 19-17 win at Old Deer Park in the Exiles derby.
He said: “It’s been a great year at Scottish and I feel like I’ve improved as a player.
“It’s a top class environment to be in with great coaches and I’m looking forward to another big and exciting season at Scottish.”
Head Coach Peter Richards added: “Pete is one of the hardest working members of the squad and it’s great to have him with us next season as well.
“You only have to look at the match-winning kicks from this season to see how important he has been for us, but also his all-round game is crucial so it’s great news for the club.
“Moving forward London Scottish will be a fantastic vehicle for Pete to keep developing in to a top class player, as well as many others, so it’s an exciting time for him and us as well.”
