A late try from Laurence Pearce gave Leicester a narrow 22-19 win over Harlequins at Welford Road yesterday.
Tommy Bell kicked four first-half penalties for the hosts but it was Quins who led 13-12 at the break thanks to a try from Jack Clifford and eight points from the tee by Nick Evans.
Two more penalties from Evans against one from Bell has Harlequins 19-15 in the lead going into the last ten minutes but Leicester turned the screw and Pearce barged over from the back of a powerful driving maul.
Harlequins finished strongly though and they felt they should have been awarded a penalty try as Sam Harrison deliberately collapsed a maul near his line.
The scrum-half was shown a yellow card but only a penalty was awarded and, from the resulting lineout, Leicester managed to turn the ball over and held on to the win.
