The Beer League is all about the taking part; enter your team if the craic is enough! It’s not about winning, it’s about the love and fun of the game. The Champagne League is for those who want to relive the glory days of taking home the winner’s trophy.
As well as the Vets tournament, there is an open-aged City League event; Legends Rugby is inviting city slickers and corporate types to enter their company rugby teams. With Schneider Electric, Ernst & Young , Accenture, JP Morgan and Partners Capital already signed up to enter a legends team there will no doubt be heavy competition on the day.
There is also an open-aged women’s tens tournament. Legends ambassador and ex-England captain, Catherine Spencer says: “There was a great turn-out from women’s teams last year and I am looking forward to some new teams signing up this year to see what the spirit of rugby is all about.”
For families, there are minis rugby matches and a kid’s zone on-site, where popular children’s performers Dazzle and Fizz will be the entertainment throughout the day.
Legends Rugby favourite and ex-England international Chris Sheasby says: “Last year we all had a brilliant day and it was great to catch-up with old teammates and meet fans. I can’t wait to see some more great rugby this year.”
Off the pitch there’s a host of entertainment including DJ’s and a concert with covers band favourites Me and Mr Brown and mash-up masters JellyHammer. DJ Marie Claire, who has played for artists including Rihanna and Kanye West will be entertaining crowds in the VIP area. It really is the ultimate rugby party.
